How should backhaul affect an XD5 versus XT9 decision?

ASUS positions the ZenWiFi XD5 as a dual-band AX3000 system and the XT9 as a tri-band AX7800 system. The additional radio arrangement makes the backhaul plan central to a useful comparison. Examine how the proposed system allocates its radios between clients and node communication. A tri-band design offers options that a dual-band design does not, but real results still depend on node placement, interference and the building. Do not convert the combined wireless class directly into an expected client download speed.

Why can an extender fail to see the router’s 5 GHz network?

An extender finding the router's 2.4 GHz network but missing its 5 GHz network has a narrower problem than a completely failed setup. Confirm the router's 5 GHz radio and the extender's supported channels before resetting the device. Use another compatible client near the router to check its 5 GHz network. If that client cannot see it either, inspect the router first. When both bands share one name, use the router's status information to verify which band the test client actually joined.

Does plugging a television into an extender create wired backhaul?

Connecting a television or console to an extender's Ethernet port can be useful, especially when the device's own wireless adapter is weak. However, if the extender connects to the router over Wi-Fi, the stream still depends on that wireless backhaul. Write the sequence as television, cable, extender, wireless link, router and internet. TP-Link describes this Ethernet bridge function on supported extenders. The cable changes the client-facing segment; it does not replace the radio connection between the extender and router.

Why does the Ethernet port matter when comparing RE235BE and RE315?

When an extender will use Ethernet, its port specification deserves as much attention as its wireless class. The cited RE315 revision 1 page lists a 10/100 Mbps port, while the RE235BE EU revision 1 datasheet lists a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port. In access-point mode, a wired link feeds the wireless network. In extender mode, the port may connect a nearby wired device while the upstream link remains wireless. Confirm the exact model's supported modes before assuming either arrangement.
