Applies to: Amped Wireless REC10, using its published user guide. This is a legacy model; verify compatibility with your current router.
Start by moving the REC10 closer to the router and checking the network you intend to extend. A scan that cannot see your home network is a different problem from a scan that sees it but rejects the Wi-Fi password.
Confirm you are configuring the REC10
The manufacturer identifies Amped_REC10 as the default setup Wi-Fi name. Use the device’s configured name if it has already been changed. The official local setup address is setup.ampedwireless.com; the guide also lists 192.168.1.240 as its default fallback. Our independent help domain is not that local setup interface.
Read the scan rather than guessing
The REC10 guide recommends at least 70% home-network signal in the setup scan. Move closer and rescan if it is weaker. Confirm the exact SSID, including spaces and letter case, with the network owner. For a hidden network, follow the manual’s Home Network Settings instructions instead of expecting the name to appear in a normal scan.
Use this observation sheet during the check:
- Router location: where is the device broadcasting the home network?
- REC10 location: how many walls or floors separate them?
- Scan result: absent, present with weak signal, or present with adequate signal?
- Comparison: can a phone see and use that same network in the same location?
If the network appears but connection fails
Move to credential and compatibility checks. Use the home network’s Wi-Fi key, not a password for this help website. Keep the network protected; do not make it open merely to complete a wizard. Consult the REC10 manual and the current router’s specifications if their supported bands or security modes differ.
Validate after setup
Reconnect your test device to the extended network after the wizard restarts the extender. Test a normal website close to the REC10, then at the intended use location. Record both results. If the main router itself cannot provide internet access, fix that upstream problem first. Repeating the extender wizard cannot restore a failed internet service.
